Minorca: One of the popular holiday islands of the Balearic Islands of Spain, Minorca (Menorca) is the 2nd largest after Majorca (Mallorca). It is generally quieter and more tranquil than Majorca and Ibiza, and has a greater number of beaches than the other islands, and also many more interesting archaeological sites. Minorca also boasts one of the Mediterranean's best natural harbours in the form of Mahón, making it the target of many a naval operation, the British had control for nearly one hundred years.
